Mike's voice provides the lead vocal for the band and is it ever so strong!!! His music career began in the 60's, when he was the vocalist for the Malibu Combo at Cardinal Newman High School. Mike became a member of the Epics during his college days at the University of South Carolina. Now referred to by many as the "Voice of the Epics", he entertains and delights audiences with his vocal excellence. His energy is quickly contagious. Between 1970 and 2000, he fronted a number of groups including "Wildfire", an 8 piece Chicago copy group, "Heavy Duty", a 70's variety band, and The Sterling Band, which appeared as the wedding band in the Hollywood Movie, "Staying Together". This band also performed at the George Bush, Sr. inaugural ball in Washington D.C. in 1989. During those years, Mike enjoyed the privilege of sharing the stage with the likes of comedian and long-time friend of Frank Sinatra, George Goble, as well as Dionne Warwick, Lori Morgan, Cheryl Ladd, Brook Benton, Percy Sledge, and Lee Atwater. Atwater was a talented blues guitarist who recorded with B.B. King and was also the national campaign chairman for George Bush, Sr. For over 35 years Mike has owned and operated Tronco's Floorcovering (General Arts Floors, Inc) in Columbia.
